Project logistics goes far beyond simple transport of cargo from point A to point B. It is a deep understanding of cargo’s requirement, such as packaging, optimal transport mode by road, sea or plane and combining it into one full package for a client.

This is the case of the industrial logistics project carried out for Litostroj Power, a company with 72 years of history in the production of machinery for hydroelectric power plants. The transport consisted of 3 larger lots including 4 Breakbulk Pieces with oversized dimensions 570 x 570 x 320 cm and weight 47 tons, 9 x 40’ High cube containers and 3 x 40’ Oversized Flat Racks from Ljubljana, from Slovenia to Buckingham, Canada.

In the project were involved:

  • Comark d.o.o, which organized inland transport in Slovenia and Canada, complete port handling in two ports and the sea freight.
  • Paklog d.o.o. with the mobile unit which professionally packed the goods at the shipper’s premises.
  • branch Transpack in Muggia which assisted with the production of the wooden boxes and technical expertise.

By carefully analyzing transport routes to Port of Koper and all the way to Port of Montreal and final destination Buckingham in Canada, we were able to achieve top-notch service and reducing the costs of the transportation.

Furthermore, the Comark, Transpak and Paklog teams have thoroughly discussed the optimal packaging solution to reduce the size of the load as much as possible without compromising the content, with a further saving on transport costs. The solution found was much appreciated by the customer, who has chosen Comark for the complete management of the load.

All goods reach the destination on time and without any damage, despite multiple transshipments and very harsh winter in Canada with snowfalls.  Following the positive outcome of the project, Litostroj Power entrusted part of its packaging service to Paklog.
